Almost all household holdings at Dutch providers are unbacked crypto (ongedekte cryptovaluta), DNB says, and bitcoin and ethereum are the most popular. Bitcoin is by far the largest, at €1.5bn, followed by ethereum at €0.3bn. Stablecoins, which aim to keep a stable value against the dollar or euro, make up less than 1% of household holdings at these providers.
The providers counted include Bitvavo, Coinmerce and Blox. Crypto that Dutch people hold at foreign providers or in their own hardware or software wallets is not counted, nor are Dutch indirect crypto investments, which DNB reported earlier.
