Cabinet proposes €50 million to restore nature around Rotterdam port
A joint plan to restore nature around the Rotterdam port, backed by a proposed €50 million from the cabinet, is meant to make permits possible again.
The province of South Holland, the national government and partners have developed a joint approach to restore nature around the port of Rotterdam. The aim is to make it possible to grant permits again in the port area. The cabinet has proposed €50 million for the plan.
The port has been held back by nitrogen rules, which have limited new permits. The province describes the approach as opening the door a crack for new permits in the port.
The money would go to nature restoration in connection with the port. The cabinet has only proposed the amount. It is not yet known whether the €50 million is final.
