Ameland ferry access will not worsen, minister promises
Infrastructure minister Vincent Karremans says access to the island will not get worse, even though the cabinet has taken €251m from the fund for the ferry connection.
Minister Vincent Karremans (Infrastructure and Water Management, VVD) promised that Ameland will stay as easy to reach as it is now. He made the pledge in the debate on his budget, after the cabinet removed €251m that had been set aside for the island's ferry connection project.
The cabinet recently moved the money to other projects. Karremans said dredging will continue: "We will simply keep dredging."
