MIVD (Militaire Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst)
The MIVD is the Dutch military intelligence and security service, a civilian-run agency within the Ministry of Defence. It collects and analyses information on threats to the Netherlands and its armed forces, including from foreign states, and it protects defence personnel, information and organisations against espionage and sabotage. Its director, here Peter Reesink, briefs the Dutch parliament (the Kamer) on these threats, which is why its assessments often feed into political debate.
