The Netherlands, explained

Kustwacht

The Netherlands Coastguard is a cooperation between Dutch government services that monitors the Dutch coastal waters and the North Sea, and coordinates responses to incidents at sea. Its tasks include search and rescue, responding to ship accidents and pollution, and enforcing maritime rules. It is coordinated from the Kustwachtcentrum in Den Helder, which is where ships in trouble near the Dutch coast are reported and managed.
