The Netherlands, explained

driehoek

The driehoek (safety triangle) is the local consultation between a municipality's mayor, the public prosecutor who leads criminal investigations and prosecutions in the area, and the chief of police. The three meet to agree how public order and safety are handled locally. It matters because the mayor is responsible for public order in the municipality, while police and prosecutors carry out enforcement, so decisions on events such as demonstrations are made jointly within this group.
