ambtsinstructie
The ambtsinstructie is the set of official rules that sets out when and how Dutch police officers and other law enforcement officers may use force, including firearms. It says that force must be necessary and proportionate. When an officer shoots someone, investigators and prosecutors check the officer's actions against these rules to decide whether the officer acted lawfully.
