Walibi admits fewer visitors to Fright Nights this weekend

The Biddinghuizen theme park is admitting fewer visitors this weekend after fights between visitors last weekend, when riot police were called in.

Walibi will admit fewer visitors to its Halloween Fright Nights this weekend, a spokesperson said. Last weekend fights broke out between visitors, and the mobile unit (ME, riot police) was called in to restore order.

The park has taken several measures but will not say what they are. "Sharing operational details could reduce the effectiveness of the measures," the spokesperson said. Walibi says it is in close contact with local authorities before and during the event and is following the situation closely.

Jean Paul Gebben, mayor of Dronten, the municipality where Biddinghuizen lies, spoke of "unacceptable behaviour, caused by a relatively small group". He said such behaviour "does not belong in our municipality and must never be seen as normal", and that he would evaluate with Walibi and the emergency services.
