Thousands of fines for asylum seekers on Zwolle-Emmen line stay invalid
The asylum minister says he cannot reverse the decision that voided thousands of fines for fare-dodging asylum seekers on the Zwolle-Emmen line.
Thousands of fines for asylum seekers who travelled without a ticket on the line between Zwolle and Emmen remain invalid. The fines were declared invalid earlier this year, and that has not changed.
Asylum minister Bart van den Brink, of the CDA party, says he cannot change this. He says it is undesirable that thousands of fines were declared invalid, but that he can do little about it, because the fines were handed out in an unlawful way.
