Dutch gas use by sector now reported monthly, not yearly
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) has changed how it reports monthly natural gas use by sector. It now uses large-consumer data from the regional grid operators going back to 1 January 2022.
Figures on natural gas use by sector normally come out only once a year, in the Energiebalans (energy balance). At the request of the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) produces a monthly breakdown by sector.
CBS combines data on large consumers from the regional grid operators, data from the GTS main gas network and survey data. It has extended the grid operators' large-consumer data back to 1 January 2022.
CBS has changed how it shows the electricity sector. It is now grouped under energy companies instead of being split into power plants and non-power plants.
CBS puts the gap between gas supply and consumption at about 3% a month. Transport is left out of the breakdown for now, because CBS has no monthly data for that sector.

CBS (Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek)
Statistics Netherlands, the independent government body that produces the official statistics on the Dutch economy and society.
Energiebalans
The energy balance is an annual statistical overview, published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), of how much energy the Netherlands produces, imports, exports and uses, broken down by energy carrier such as natural gas, electricity and oil. It also shows how much energy each sector of the economy consumes, including industry, households, transport and agriculture. It is the standard reference for Dutch energy statistics and for tracking progress on energy and climate policy.
