The police took servers offline this week that ran a malicious proxy service. The service let criminals abuse the IP addresses of innocent citizens and businesses.
A proxy service passes internet traffic through another person's connection. That way the traffic appears to come from that person's IP address, the number that identifies a connection online.
The police unit Noord-Holland announced the action.
