Train fares rise faster than inflation from 1 January
Train tickets get 4.7% more expensive on 1 January, while NS offsets the rise with higher discounts outside the rush hour.
NS announced on Tuesday that it will raise train ticket prices by 4.7% on average. The new prices apply from 1 January next year.
Most subscriptions go up by the same average. The increase is higher than inflation, so train fares are rising faster than prices in general.
To soften the rise for passengers, NS is offering higher discounts for travel outside the rush hour (spits), the busiest times of the day.
