Radio operators launch new national Nederlandse Radio Awards
Radio operators have set up the Nederlandse Radio Awards, with the first ceremony on 2 February 2027 in Amsterdam, after the Gouden RadioRing ended following cuts to the public broadcaster.
The radio divisions of DPG Media, Talpa Audio and Mediahuis Radio have joined forces to create the Nederlandse Radio Awards, a new national radio prize. The ceremony takes place on Tuesday 2 February 2027 in the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam.
The awards are called 'Kristallen', a reference to the crystal, the technology behind radio. A professional jury picks some winners. In other categories, listeners choose the winner. All national radio stations can compete, and the organisers will announce the categories later.
AVROTROS, a public broadcaster, will stage the show on behalf of the public broadcasting system.
Radio deserves to be honoured. We also think it is important to have an annual moment when radio makers meet.Statement from the radio houses
The Gouden RadioRing ended last January after twenty years. Cuts to the public broadcaster meant the awards show had no successor.
