Hundreds of thousands pay for an electricity connection heavier than they need
If your connection is larger than your home or business uses, you may be paying more every year than necessary.
Hundreds of thousands of households and small businesses in the Netherlands pay too much for their electricity connection. Their connection is heavier than their consumption requires.
The finding comes from research by the Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM), the Dutch consumer and market regulator.
Estimates of the number of affected households and small businesses range from "hundreds of thousands" to more than 300,000.
The reports do not say how households can check their connection, how a change is requested, or what it costs to switch. Anyone who suspects their connection is too heavy may want to ask their grid operator or energy supplier.
