Friesland taxi firm apologises for pick-ups possibly 1-2 hours late
Dorenbos, which runs Wmo transport for people who cannot travel alone and pupil transport, has apologised to passengers in Smallingerland and Súdwest-Fryslân.
Taxi company Dorenbos has apologised after passengers in the Frisian municipalities of Smallingerland and Súdwest-Fryslân may have been picked up one to two hours late since the summer. Deputy director Rijk van Dijk said the complaints from Smallingerland stem from start-up problems.
Dorenbos provides pupil transport and Wmo transport for people who cannot travel on their own, for example because they are older or ill.
Van Dijk said Dorenbos had two weeks to set up the transport in Smallingerland after the previous taxi company there went bankrupt. He said it could take over fewer drivers and vans from the former carriers.
In Utrecht, the municipality says Willemsen de Koning, which runs pupil transport to special education, had "the best offer on both quality and price". The company may continue the work from 2027, when the tender ends, although three other parties were interested. The municipality has tightened the quality requirements.

Wmo (Wet maatschappelijke ondersteuning)
The Wmo (Social Support Act) is the Dutch law under which municipalities provide social support to residents who need help to take part in daily life. Its services include help at home, day care, and transport for people who cannot travel on their own because of age, illness, or disability. Municipalities arrange these services, often through contracted transport companies.
