Dutch government presents new plan for children's online safety
Under the plan, students must keep their phones at home or in a locker during the school day from 2027, and stricter rules are announced on cyberbullying and app design.
The Dutch government has presented a renewed strategy with a broad package of measures to make children safer online.
The strategy includes stricter rules against cyberbullying and against addictive app design.
Phones at school
From 1 January 2027, students must leave their phones at home or store them in a locker during the entire school day. The government had announced earlier that "at home or in a locker" should become the new national norm.
Several ministries are working together on the measures.
