An explosion damaged business premises on De Scheysloot in Noordwijk on Sunday evening, 25 October. Police arrested a suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Zoetermeer, after officers immediately searched the area.

Police received several reports of the explosion. A loud bang had been heard in the area beforehand. As far as is known, nobody was injured.

Police do not rule out further arrests. The investigation into the cause is ongoing, and police are asking witnesses to come forward. They want to hear from anyone who saw something unusual near the premises on Sunday evening, or who has other information.

Police warned that placing explosives is dangerous for residents, passers-by, business owners and emergency workers. They said heavy fireworks banned for consumers, jerrycans of flammable liquid and home-made explosives create life-threatening situations and do not belong in public spaces.
