# Woman from Hoorn, 48, dies after A9 collision near Heiloo

A 48-year-old woman from Hoorn died after she was hit by a car on the A9 near Heiloo yesterday afternoon, police said. The accident happened at around 17:45.

The woman was walking on the motorway. The driver was heading for Alkmaar when he suddenly hit her near Heiloo. He was not injured.

Police interviewed the driver as a witness and offered him victim support (slachtofferhulp). Other motorists who saw the accident happen can also get victim support.

Police are still investigating how and why the woman ended up on the motorway. "We are treating this as a tragic accident," a police spokesperson said.
