A hairdresser's shop on the Westhavenkade in Vlaardingen will stay closed for four more weeks. Acting mayor (locoburgemeester) Rens de Ron extended the closure on Friday. The shop was due to reopen on Monday.

The shop was first closed on Monday 12 October for two weeks, the day after an explosion on Sunday 11 October. The municipality said the blast had a "big impact". De Ron's decision follows police advice, which cited continuing concerns about public order and safety.

Police are still investigating the explosion.

A possible link with other incidents at hairdressers in Vlaardingen is also being examined.
