DPG Media Groep has announced that its takeover of Viaplay in the Netherlands is final. Viaplay's Dutch staff will move to Videoland, the streaming service DPG runs.

**Why it matters**

- For now, current Videoland and Viaplay subscriptions, prices and apps stay unchanged, DPG says.
- Existing Videoland subscribers keep their current subscription and pay for sport only if they choose to, DPG says.

The takeover gives DPG the broadcasting rights to Formula 1 races and Premier League matches, among others. In the coming period, work will go into the sport offering on Videoland.

Earlier this month the competition regulator ACM approved the deal.

In its press release, DPG said the Viaplay staff "bring their knowledge and experience in sport, programming and production" to Videoland.

More clarity on the sport offering on Videoland is expected in the course of the year.

## Background

- **ACM (Autoriteit Consument & Markt)**: The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets, the independent regulator that enforces competition law and consumer protection rules. It also regulates sectors such as energy, telecoms, transport and postal services.
- **Videoland**: Videoland is a Dutch streaming service run by DPG Media that offers television series, films, and programmes on demand, alongside live channels. It is one of the main streaming platforms in the Netherlands, next to services such as Netflix and Disney+, and Dutch viewers often use it for local dramas, entertainment shows, and broadcaster content.
