Today is sunny in many places and dry, after a cold start. Temperatures were just above freezing this morning, and some places saw frost. Afternoon temperatures reach only about 8 to 10 degrees.

It was the first frost of this autumn. The temperature at the KNMI weather station in Woensdrecht, run by the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, fell to -1.3 degrees.

That is chilly for the time of year. Normal afternoon temperatures are around 11 to 12 degrees. After today, temperatures will sometimes rise a little above 10 degrees, but it will not get much warmer, forecasters say.

The cold is most noticeable in the east, where morning temperatures are lowest. In the north, low cloud may linger in the early hours before the sun comes out fully. In Zeeland the sun breaks through now and then, according to the weather service Weeronline.

More cloud arrives in the afternoon.
