Autumn storm Austen brought down trees across the Netherlands, with damage reported from dozens of places. Storm Boelo follows this evening and could bring gusts of 90 km/h on the coast and up to 100 km/h in the western Wadden area.

Today is calmer during the day, but the wind picks up again as evening falls.

In central Amsterdam a tree fell on a moving car. The female driver escaped with a fright. In Den Haag a tree landed on a parked car, and in Bavel, near Breda, a large branch fell on a car roof. In Volkel, in Brabant, a tree came down on the roof of a farmhouse used as a home. The storm also caused damage in Maastricht.

Trees on the tracks disrupted train services this morning between Alphen aan den Rijn and Gouda and between Heerlen and Maastricht. Fewer trains ran to Germany because trees had also fallen on the tracks there.
