The management of singer René Froger has responded to criticism of "I Am a Singer", a documentary on his 40-year career that aired on Sunday evening on television and on Videoland. It said the film was meant as a festive look back.

"Let us be clear about the approach: this documentary was meant as a festive look back at his career," the management said.

"Especially in the current circumstances, a little more care and restraint would be appropriate," the management said. "Sometimes it is classier not to have an opinion on everything straight away."

## Background

- **Videoland**: Videoland is a Dutch streaming service, a video-on-demand platform where subscribers can watch series, films and TV programmes whenever they like. It carries a large library of Dutch and international content, including many original productions, and it is one of the main ways people in the Netherlands watch television programmes on demand rather than at a set broadcast time. Programmes that are shown on television are often also made available on Videoland at the same time.
