Police have released recognisable images of a young man suspected of posing as a police officer to steal from a resident of the Brahmslaan in Breda on 31 March. He may be a minor. Police first posted images of him on social media in which he could not be recognised, so that he could come forward, but he did not. They now ask anyone who recognises him, or his voice, to get in touch.

The scam began at the end of the afternoon, when a woman who said she was from the police phoned the resident. She told him four burglars had been arrested nearby and two were still at large. She asked him to check his front door for signs of a break-in. He saw nothing.

The caller then said she would send a colleague to give advice, and named him as Wesley Bonker. A few hours later a young man arrived and gave that name. The resident let him in.

Inside, the man asked whether there was money and jewellery in the house. The resident opened his safe and handed over his bank cards and PIN codes. The man left, saying he still had to fetch a so-called safety bracelet. Money was missing from the home and the cards were gone. The bank blocked the cards after suspicious transactions.

The resident's doorbell camera filmed the man for a few seconds. Police say his face is clearly visible. He has black hair and wore a black Jordan puffer jacket and white earbuds.
