In 2025, 20% of crime victims said the offence left them with emotional or psychological problems, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reports. The figures come from the Veiligheidsmonitor 2025, a survey held every two years among people aged 15 or older.

Online threats and intimidation hit hardest: 40% of those victims had psychological problems. Violent crime followed at 32%. CBS says victims of crimes that come close, through a known offender or in their own neighbourhood, relatively often have psychological problems as a result.
