The Tweede Kamer, the Second Chamber, adopted a motion by MP Wiersma calling for work to keep sufficient expertise and diagnostic capabilities at every emergency department (spoedeisendehulpafdeling). It came in a short debate on hospital care.

The Tweede Kamer also adopted a second motion by Wiersma. It asks that, as budget funding (budgetbekostiging) for emergency departments is developed further, the functions of the different emergency department locations in a region be established first.

That motion came in a short debate (tweeminutendebat) on the development route for appropriate acute care in the region and the introduction of budget funding for emergency departments.

The Second Chamber also adopted a motion by MP Synhaeve and others calling for existing children's care providers to be checked as well, to see whether they meet all requirements. It came in a short debate on good governance and supervision in healthcare, including the health inspectorate IGJ and care fraud.

## Background

- **IGJ (Inspectie Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd)**: The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate is the Dutch government body that supervises healthcare and youth care providers. It checks whether they meet legal quality and safety requirements, investigates incidents and complaints, and can enforce compliance. It is part of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport's supervisory system, so its findings often shape how hospitals, care homes and youth care organisations are held accountable.
