## Background

- **Kadaster**: The Kadaster is the Netherlands' Land Registry and Cadastre agency, the government body that keeps the official public records of land and property ownership and the national cadastral maps. It maintains the Basisregistratie Kadaster, the basic register of real estate and the rights attached to it, which is used by banks, notaries, municipalities and the government. Because it holds these registers, it also publishes analyses of the housing market, such as research on new homes.
