The statutory minimum wage will be €15.29 from 1 January 2027, Social Affairs and Employment Minister Vijlbrief has said in a letter to the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of parliament.

The new rate will be up from €14.99, the level since 1 July, when the minimum wage rose with inflation from €14.71.

The rise is an indexation, as the Wet minimumloon en minimumvakantiebijslag (minimum wage act) requires in article 14, the letter says. The regulation providing for it will soon be sent to the Staatscourant, the official gazette, for publication. An identical letter is being sent to the Senate's social affairs committee.

## Background

- **Tweede Kamer**: The House of Representatives, the lower and more powerful house of the Dutch parliament. Its 150 members are elected directly; it can amend bills and holds the cabinet to account.
- **Wet minimumloon en minimumvakantiebijslag**: The Dutch minimum wage and minimum holiday allowance act sets the statutory minimum wage that employers in the Netherlands must pay, along with the minimum holiday allowance (vakantiebijslag) that employees are entitled to. It also provides for the minimum wage to be adjusted periodically through indexation, which is set out in a regulation published under the act.
- **Staatscourant**: The Staatscourant is the official gazette of the Netherlands, in which laws, regulations and other official government announcements are published. A regulation generally takes effect once it has been published there, so it is the formal way new rules become known and binding.
