Police arrested a 31-year-old man from Hellevoetsluis on Monday 2 November on suspicion of involvement in an incident on the Leersumstraat in Den Haag, where heavy fireworks were thrown through the letterbox of a home. Nobody was injured.

The incident was reported to police on Sunday morning 1 November. The fireworks had been thrown through the letterbox the night before. Detectives began an investigation that led them to the man's identity.

The arrest was made by the police's Dienst Speciale Interventies (DSI), the special intervention unit, at a home on the Glasblazer in Hellevoetsluis. After the arrest he was held under full restrictions, allowed contact only with his lawyer, police say.

On Thursday 5 November the suspect appeared before an examining magistrate (rechter-commissaris). The magistrate extended his pre-trial detention by 14 days and lifted the restrictions.
