A KLM flight from Amsterdam to Tel Aviv received a bomb threat on Thursday evening and landed in Bucharest, the airline said. The plane had left Schiphol at 16:40, and the threat came in at 19:30, a KLM spokesperson said.

Bucharest was already a planned stopover on the route. After the threat, the aircraft landed there as scheduled. Passengers and crew got off, and the plane was examined, according to KLM.

The aircraft was due to continue to Tel Aviv early on Friday. It was cleared to do so after a security check.

While the plane was taxiing, however, a technical problem emerged. The flight was then cancelled and did not leave Bucharest for Tel Aviv during Thursday night, a KLM spokesperson said.

On Thursday evening, once everyone had left the aircraft, KLM said the plane was being inspected. The airline said it would then be decided whether the flight could continue to Israel.
