Dutch inflation was 2.4% in February and 2.8% in April. It reached 3.5% in May and fell to 2.9% in June, CBS figures show. It then rose every month: 3.2% in July, 3.3% in August and 3.4% in September.

## Background

- **CBS (Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek)**: Statistics Netherlands, the independent government body that produces the official statistics on the Dutch economy and society.
- **Eurostat**: Eurostat is the statistical office of the European Union, based in Luxembourg, that collects and publishes official statistics for the EU and its member states. In the Netherlands, its figures are often cited alongside Statistics Netherlands (CBS) when comparing Dutch data with other countries, such as inflation. Its monthly inflation estimates for the euro area are the standard reference for the European Central Bank's price-stability target.
