# EU countries release 42.6m barrels of fuel from reserves

EU member states will release 42.6 million barrels of diesel and other fuel from reserves onto the market at a faster pace in the coming months. EU Commissioner Dan Jørgensen said so on Thursday after talks with EU energy ministers.

The release fulfils the pledge the G7 made earlier this month to release 100 million barrels of oil and diesel from reserves. Jørgensen said about half of the 42.6 million barrels will be diesel. The G7 deal followed pressure from US President Donald Trump, who threatened to restrict diesel exports if the stocks were not released.
