ASM International (ASMI), which makes machines used to produce chips, saw revenue rise 45% to almost €1.2bn in July to September.

Net profit fell, because the same period a year earlier included a one-off windfall. Operating profit, excluding special items, rose 56%.

ASMI says demand for AI keeps growing, and that means more chips are needed, for example for data centres. Chipmakers also want faster, more powerful chips, and need machines from firms such as ASMI to make them.

The board expects revenue to rise by about 35% in 2026 and to exceed €5.7bn in 2027. That would reach the company's 2030 target three years early.

NXP makes chips and is one of ASMI's customers. Its third-quarter revenue rose 19% to $3.8bn compared with a year earlier. Net profit rose 40% to $884m.

NXP, which has a factory in Nijmegen, makes chips used in cars and also supplies chips for data centres. Chief executive Rafael Sotomayor sees long-term growth opportunities in data centres and AI.

## Background

- **ASM International (ASMI)**: ASM International is a semiconductor equipment company, listed on Euronext Amsterdam, that makes machines used in the production of computer chips. Its equipment deposits and processes thin layers of material on silicon wafers, so it is a supplier to chipmakers rather than a chip designer. It is part of the Dutch high-tech industry around the chip supply chain.
- **NXP**: NXP (NXP Semiconductors N.V.) is a semiconductor company headquartered in the Netherlands, in Eindhoven, that designs and makes chips for uses such as cars, industrial equipment, and secure identification and payment. It is one of the larger chip firms with Dutch roots and a major customer of chip equipment makers such as ASMI.
