Children are still not heard and protected well enough against insecurity and violence, the Kinderrechtencollectief (children's rights collective) says in its annual report, Kinderrechten in Beweging. The group will hold a protest at the Tweede Kamer on Wednesday afternoon.

The collective says the government has too little insight into how many children in the Netherlands grow up in an unsafe situation. Insight into violence remains limited and fragmented, it says.

The collective monitors compliance with children's rights in the Netherlands. Its members include Defence for Children, Kinderpostzegels, Save the Children and Terre des Hommes.

## Background

- **Kinderrechtencollectief**: The Kinderrechtencollectief (Children's Rights Collective) is a Dutch coalition of organisations that works to promote and protect children's rights in the Netherlands, based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It monitors how well the Dutch government and other institutions meet these rights, publishes an annual monitor on the subject, and lobbies politicians to act on its findings. Its work matters because it gives children's organisations a joint voice in debates in The Hague on issues such as safety, violence, and the right to be heard.
