Prime Minister Rob Jetten, deputy prime ministers Dilan Yesilgöz (VVD) and Bart van den Brink (CDA) and Finance Minister Eelco Heinen met on Thursday between 14:00 and 15:00 at the Ministry of General Affairs. In recent days, senior ministers have held talks with left-wing and right-wing opposition parties to find support for the tax plan and next year's budgets.

After the meeting Yesilgöz went to the Tweede Kamer, where she has a debate until 18:00.

PRO and Volt demand major changes to the tax plan. They want billions less tax on work, with the bill placed on "the very richest".

JA21, BBB and SGP also want changes to the plan. They tie their support to stricter asylum policy, no obligation for municipalities to take in asylum seekers, substantially weaker nitrogen plans and a pause on medical-ethical issues.

The cabinet itself wants to end the years-long standstill of the nitrogen lock (stikstofslot).
