A police officer hit a parcel courier with a stun weapon (taser) in Amsterdam's Runstraat on Thursday. According to the police, the courier had refused to move his van and later did not cooperate with his arrest, after which the situation escalated.

Police say the officer saw no other way at that moment to bring the situation under control.

A police spokesperson said: “At some point a colleague decides: I can't manage this any other way. Then he chooses a stun weapon.” The spokesperson added that more happened beforehand than the online video shows. Police say they have also viewed other footage.
