ABN Amro has taken its accounting software for businesses offline. The bank calls the problem a "possible security incident", a spokesperson said on Saturday.

The bank says it is allowing for the possibility of a leak, though the investigation is still under way. The software is a service for entrepreneurs, who use it for tasks such as processing invoices and keeping their accounts.

The bank is investigating whether any customer data has leaked, the spokesperson confirmed.

"If the investigation shows that individual customers' data is involved, we will contact those customers personally," the spokesperson said.
