Rijkswaterstaat is closing the A27 in both directions between knooppunt (junction) Lunetten and knooppunt Everdingen from 22.00 tonight until 05.00 on Monday. Traffic will be diverted via the A12 and A2.

Rijkswaterstaat expects the diversion to add about 10 to 30 minutes to journeys. The same stretch was also closed last weekend.

This weekend, crews are driving sheet piling in at a viaduct near Vianen and working on the asphalt.

## More closures in November

Between 6 and 9 November, the A2 towards Utrecht is closed between knooppunt Everdingen and the Vianen exit. Towards Den Bosch, it is closed between knooppunt Everdingen and the Everdingen exit. The A27 connecting roads stay open. Delays of ten minutes to half an hour are expected.

That weekend, parts of knooppunt Hooipolder and the A59 to A27 connecting road will also be closed. The motorway towards Utrecht will be shut between knooppunt Hooipolder and the Geertruidenberg exit.

Rijkswaterstaat has been working on the A27 for some time. Over 47km between Houten and Hooipolder, for example, it is renovating bridges, adding additional lanes and adapting viaducts.

## Background

- **Rijkswaterstaat**: Rijkswaterstaat (the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management) is the executive agency of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. It manages and maintains the national main road network, including motorways such as the A27, as well as the main waterways, locks, bridges and tunnels, and the national flood defences. When it closes a motorway for works or maintenance, as it does with the diversions and overnight closures on the A27, it is the body announcing and carrying out the closure.
